Acadia Healthcare governance and M&A strategy guided by general counsel Brian Farley
Brian Farley, Acadia Healthcare — a veteran corporate lawyer with deep experience in healthcare and technology sectors — joined the company in July 2023 as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. In this role he leads Acadia Healthcare’s legal organization and serves as a strategic adviser to the executive team and Board of Directors.
Farley oversees a multidisciplinary team of attorneys responsible for the company’s securities law, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, litigation, labor and employment, compliance and regulatory matters. His remit also includes counseling on transactional risk, managing regulatory engagement and supporting governance practices as the company navigates a complex health services landscape.
Before joining Acadia Healthcare, Farley was Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary at GoHealth, a major publicly traded Medicare Advantage marketplace. At GoHealth he led the company’s legal, regulatory, compliance, SEC reporting, government affairs and cybersecurity functions, and played a leading role in the legal work that supported the company’s successful initial public offering in 2020. His experience launching and scaling legal operations in highly regulated markets is seen as a key asset for Acadia as it pursues growth and strategic transactions.
Farley’s earlier career includes senior legal leadership at Allscripts, where he served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer, and roles at Motorola Mobility and Level 3 Communications that involved global legal support during significant corporate transactions. He also held positions at Rhythms NetConnections, e.spire Communications and the law firm Collier, Shannon, Rill & Scott, building a foundation in commercial law, corporate governance and regulatory matters.
An accomplished academic, Farley holds a JD from The George Washington University Law School, an MBA from the University of Colorado and a BA in Political Economics from Colorado College. Observers note that his blend of transactional experience, regulatory expertise and board-level advising positions him to help steer Acadia Healthcare through expansion, compliance challenges and potential M&A activity in the coming years.
